Of the enzymes involved in lipidation, it was shown that fatty acid synthase (FASN), an enzyme that catalyzes de novo synthesis of the fatty acid palmitate, increases prostate cancer cell adhesiveness, impairs HGF-mediated cell migration and reduces three-dimensional (3D) invasion by mediating actin cytoskeletal remodeling downstream of palmitoylated atypical GTPase RHOU [394,395].
