INS and diabetes mellitus: In the last 10 years, several in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated the possible role of lncRNA in the pathogenesis of diabetes, including processes like pancreatic β-cell function and insulin secretion (Insulin-Like Growth Factor 2 Antisense (IGF2-AS) [7,8], βlinc1 [9], and Maternally Expressed 3 (MEG3) [10,11]), as well as glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity (H19 [12] and steroid receptor RNA activator (SRA) 1 [13]).
