In contrast to previous studies, Prof. Bae’s group recently reported that bvPLA2 exhibited a potent neuroprotective effect in rodent models of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases via the modulation of Foxp3-expressing CD4+ Treg expansion, and that the therapeutic action of BV against various neuroinflammatory diseases might be attributed to the anti-inflammatory effect of Foxp3+ Tregs activated by bvPLA2.
