INS and cardiovascular disorder: We found that WBC were positively correlated with higher postprandial glycaemic response, higher levels of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-6, higher GlycA (a marker of systemic inflammation and cardiovascular disease risk [39]), higher glycated haemoglobin and postprandial insulin, consistent with such counts being markers of chronic inflammation and cardiometabolic risk (Fig. 1).
