In line with our findings, a low serum albumin level has already been identified asan independent risk factor for postoperative complications in open liver surgery,especially for postoperative bile leakage, by several studies.39-41 Low albuminlevels are commonly found in malnutrition patients and are associated with a seriesof physiological derangements that may lead to postoperative complications. Here, ALB is linked to nutritional deficiency disease.
