IL17A and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis: Time-restricted feeding or intermittent fasting has been shown to alter the T cells in the gut resulting in reduction of IL-17 producing T cells and an increase in regulatory T cells and result in protection from experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).38 It is tempting to speculate that increase in regulatory T cells could be due to increase in short chain fatty acid (SCFA) producing Clostridia in the mucus-associated biofilm.
