CRP and major depressive disorder: E. canis, identified in Italy only in samples from dogs, is the etiological agent of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME), typically characterized by fever, depression, anorexia lymph adenomegaly, splenomegaly, hemorrhagic tendencies, pale mucosa, weight loss, ophthalmologic lesions, neurologic disorders, CBC abnormalities like anemia, leukopenia with lymphocytosis, hypoalbuminemia with hyperglobulinemia and increase in alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and C-reactive protein [111,126,132,133,134,136,139,140,141,142].
