In a randomized, open, multicenter, phase 2b clinical trial (NCT01244763), roxadustat, administered in different initial doses and at different frequencies for 16 or 24 weeks, achieved anemia correction and decreased serum hepcidin levels in 143 patients with evaluated anemia (baseline Hb ≤ 10.5 g/dL) and CKD, not treated by hemodialysis [10].
