A randomized, double-blind, phase 2 study, involving not dialysis-dependent patients with anemia and CKD (NCT01599507) [21], showed that roxadustat, when used three times a week, increased Hb levels during the 8-week study period, with a significant difference between the roxadustat groups, receiving either a low dose (1.1–1.75 mg/kg) or a high dose (1.5–2.25 mg/kg), and a placebo group (the mean change +1.82 and +2.59 vs. 0.65 g/dL; both p < 0.01) [12] (see Table 1) [9]. The gene discussed is GSTM1; the disease is anemia.
