The virus is associated with an aggressive CD4+ adult T-cell lymphoma/leukaemia (ATLL) and inflammatory diseases such as HTLV I uveitis (HU) [5], infective dermatitis [6], arthropathy [7], and HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). Here, CD4 is linked to tropical spastic paraparesis.
