There was also a concern that the prevalence of TERT mutations might have been exaggerated because of the high proportion of patients with large-sized thyroid cancer, but the prevalence of TERT mutations was 9.8% in PTC patients and 16.7% in FTC patients, which was similar to that reported in two previous studies (approximately 11% and 17%, respectively) [37,38].
