Using immunohistochemistry to detect the expression of PKCθ and KIT in 48 samples of GIST, Motegi et al. found that PKCθ expression was positive in 85% of GISTs and was positive in all KIT-negative GISTs (6 samples), thus revealing that PKCθ could be a useful marker for GIST with negative-KIT [41]. This evidence concerns the gene KIT and gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
