This animal model develops all the features of human MetS, including visceral obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, secondary hypogonadism, i.e., low testosterone (T) and low gonadotropins (LH and FSH), and hepatic alterations as in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) [15,26]. The gene discussed is BRD2; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
