Within the first 24 hours, lymphocytopenia (defined as lymphocytes <1.50 × 109/L) was present in 86% of patients and was severe (lymphocytes <1.0 × 109/L) in 56.1%; increased D-dimer (defined as > 500 μg/L) and CRP levels (> 10 mg/L) were found in 84.2% and 87.7% of patients respectively, while PCT values higher than 0.5 μg/L were observed in 47.4% (Table 2). Here, CRP is linked to lymphopenia.
