It is additionally interesting to point out that the progressive multiorgan inflammation in relB-deficient mice at 1, 2, and 5 wk of age was detected equivalently in β5t-deficient relB-deficient mice (Fig. S5 D), indicating that the onset of autoimmune disease caused by the loss of relB is independent of the thymoproteasome and thymoproteasome-dependent CD8+ T cells. This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and autoimmune disease.
