An excessive inflammatory response to SARS-CoV-2, referred to as a cytokine storm, has been implicated in COVID-19 severity and death, as evidenced by the increased levels of CRP, IL-6, IL-7, tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and inflammatory chemokines, including CC- chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2), CCL3 and CXC- chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10), as well as IL-2 receptor. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and COVID-19.
