The polymorphisms located in the regions of the POMC, DNAJC27 (RBJ), and ADCY3 genes were associated with pubertal development, height, BMI, obesity, and type I diabetes mellitus (Gudbjartsson et al., 2008; Lango Allen et al., 2010; Speliotes et al., 2010; Bradfield et al., 2011; Berndt et al., 2013; Cousminer et al., 2013; He et al., 2015). The gene discussed is POMC; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
