Recently, Gellert-Kristensen et al. demonstrated that a genetic risk score, combining the three genetic variants in PNPLA3, TM6SF2 and HSD17B13, was associated with risk of cirrhosis and HCC in fatty liver disease (both NAFLD and alcohol-related) in the general population [82]. The gene discussed is PNPLA3; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
