Interestingly, although few studies have assessed whether CC16 exerts its effect on cells through binding to a receptor (Laucho-Contreras et al. 2016), a study of lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury indicated that CC16 suppressed TLR4 expression levels on lung macrophages (Snyder et al. 2010), which was similar to our observations.
