Genetic studies in mice with Npr1 deficiency (Npr1 encodes natriuretic peptide receptor – A), resulted in fibrosis, hypertrophic growth and remodeling of the kidney tissue, massive albuminuria, and podocyte injury, along with elevated BP and cardiac hypertrophy, which are observed in human hypertensive individuals [24,25,30,31]. Here, NPR1 is linked to cardiac hypertrophy.
