The current therapeutic agents for DM include α-glucosidase inhibitor (AGI), glucagon-like peptide (GLP)-1 agonist, dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP)-IV inhibitor, sulfonylureas, meglitinides, biguanides (metformin), thiazolidinediones (TZDs), and sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor which differently act on its intervention sites [4].
