Some miRNAs interact with HOTAIR to promote GC progression: (i) miR-101-3p, described as a tumor suppressor in GC, inhibits HOTAIR expression and promotes the proliferation and invasion of GC cells through direct targeting of SRF; (ii) miR-217 expression is negatively regulated by interaction with HOTAIR and thereby increases the expression of GPC-5, a target of miR-217 in GC, promoting GC development; and miR-152 is negatively regulated by the direct interaction with HOTAIR. Here, GPC5 is linked to gastric cancer.
