We previously demonstrated (Thyme et al., 2019) that mutants for the schizophrenia risk genes atxn7 and sbno1 (Schizophrenia Working Group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, 2014; Girard et al., 2015) exhibit defects in prepulse inhibition (PPI), a sensory-motor gating phenomenon in which a weak prepulse stimulus suppresses an immediately following strong stimulus response. The gene discussed is SBNO1; the disease is schizophrenia.
