Lawsone’s position is slightly different: a few studies pointed out that lawsone carries the potential to induce oxidative injury to red blood cells (RBC) with normal Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) activity, and even more so to G6PD-deficient red cells, and acute renal failure was observed due to its nephrotoxic effect [15,16]. The gene discussed is G6PD; the disease is acute kidney injury.
