This study suggests that fucoxanthin could improve insulin sensitivity and carbohydrate homeostasis through the regulation of glucose transporter-4 (GLUT-4), the reduction of hyperinsulinemia and neoglucogenesis, and the modification of the enzymatic activity of liver glucose regulatory enzymes such as glucose-6-phosphatase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase [83].
