Interestingly, compared with nonsupplemented groups, probiotic Enterococcus faecium NCIMB 11,181 was shown to ameliorate necrotic enteritis-induced intestinal barrier injury in broiler chickens and increased gene expression levels of TLR2, MyD88, NF-κB, IL-4, iNOS, TGF-β3, PI3K, IGF-2, glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP-2), and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is enteritis.
