Very interestingly, RSV was able to affect the MAP kinase pathway by inducing phosphorylation of protein kinase B (Akt), for which a reduction is observed in retinal neurodegeneration [138,141], phosphorylation of AMPK, Sirt-1 expression, and PGC-1α protein expression [137], and decreasing phosphorylation of ERK 1/2 (Figure 5) [138].
