NLRP3 and cancer: For example, a recent study showed that the oncogenic KrasG12D mutation, which occurs in several types of leukemia, not only promotes cancer development and progression via constantly activated RAS/MEK/ERK signaling (also known as mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) pathway) but, also, by activating the NLRP3 inflammasome, thereby promoting myeloproliferation and cytopenia.
