It is already well-established that inappropriate activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome contributes to the onset and progression of various diseases, including inflammatory disorders (inflammatory bowel diseases and rheumatoid arthritis); neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis) and metabolic disorders (type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis) [31]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and Parkinson disease.
