Recent comprehensive genomic profiling has greatly elucidated the molecular hallmarks of gliomas, including the mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 (IDH1 and IDH2), loss of chromosomes 1p and 19q (1p/19q), and epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFRvIII). This evidence concerns the gene IDH2 and central nervous system cancer.
