FTO and obesity disorder: Lending further weight to these GRS results, however, was the stronger evidence of an interaction between fast-food proximity and a specific SNP near MC4R, a gene known to be involved in the regulation of food intake.32 Previous research has linked MC4R specifically to binge eating33 although this remains contested.34 We also observed some evidence of a possible interaction with a SNP marker of FTO, a gene with well-established links to obesity.
