In the case of HNSCC, SALL3 hypermethylation was associated with the expression of two of the three 10–11 translocation family enzymes (TET1, TET2) and DNMT3A methyltransferase, supporting the hypothesis that the SALL3 gene may play a role in the tumorigenesis and may serve as an important biomarker (Misawa et al., 2017). Here, SALL3 is linked to head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
