IFNG and cutaneous leishmaniasis: A study by Iborra et al. (2004) evaluated the prophylactic activity of L. infantum histones in an animal model for cutaneous leishmaniasis, and reported that the animals immunized with a mixture of the four plasmids encoding the histones H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 developed a specific Th1 response associated with histone-specific production of IFN-γ.
