IOP fluctuation that occurs over months to years has been reported as a risk factor for visual field progression in glaucoma in the Advanced Glaucoma Intervention Study (AGIS),[4,5] the Collaborative Initial Glaucoma Treatment Study (CIGTS),[6] and the Japanese Archive of Multicentral Databases in Glaucoma (JAMDIG).[7] Thus, our findings suggest that increases in AH GDF15 measurements may be associated with increased risk of glaucoma progression. The gene discussed is GDF15; the disease is glaucoma.
