Interestingly, a recently published study by Huang and coworkers [32] revealed similar findings: When high-frequency DBS (100 Hz) was applied in the nucleus basalis of Meynert of a transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease, the activity of ChAT increased whereas that of AChE decreased after high-frequency DBS. Here, CHAT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
