CD4 and infection: Similar to what we found when considering day 2 post-infection viral titers alone, we found that a higher frequency of circulating CD44+ CD8 T cells at baseline correlated with protection from HID (Fig 4C), whereas a lower frequency of CCR5+ or CD25+ CD4 T cells correlated with protection from HID (Fig 4D and 4E), although only the last comparion was statistically significant after adjustment for multiple comparisons.
