Further supporting this notion, chronic treatment with compound 21 (AT2R agonist) prevented cardiopulmonary fibrosis and attenuated pulmonary hypertension with an associated increase in mRNA expression of ACE2 and Mas1 indicating that beneficial effects of AT2R activation involve the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas1 pathway [166]. This evidence concerns the gene MAS1 and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
