In this regard, Zhang et al. (2011) evaluated the activation of Src in primary breast tumor samples of patients treated with trastuzumab (an anti-HER2 monoclonal antibody indicated for the treatment of tumors that overexpress HER2) by immunohistochemical staining and demonstrated a strong correlation between patients expressing high levels of Src activity and low survival as well as high survival in those patients with low Src activity (Zhang et al., 2011), suggesting that STARD3 may contribute to the aggressive behavior of patients’ resistance to trastuzumab. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is breast neoplasm.
