Neuronal LRRC8A was judged to contribute to ischemia-induced brain injury, because middle cerebral artery occlusion induced upregulation of LRRC8A expression and augmentation of VSOR currents in hippocampal CA1 neurons derived from control mice but never in those from LRRC8A-knockout mice (Zhou J.J. et al., 2020).
