Saalbach and coworkers reported that in primary melanoma, as well as in subcutaneous metastases, the cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily Thy-1 (CD90) is detectable in EC, but absent in healthy skin and in benign melanocytic skin lesions (nevi) (Schubert et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene THY1 and melanoma.
