Alterations in PLCL2 can interfere with normal calcium homeostasis which results in abnormal proliferation, migration, and contraction of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) as the main events leading to atherosclerosis.7-9 Furthermore, the tissue distribution of the PLCL2 (e.g. lymphocytes and platelets; crucial components of atherosclerosis) may reflect the participation of this gene in atherosclerosis complex process through inflammation and immune responses.9 Here, PLCL2 is linked to atherosclerosis.
