VDR and sarcopenia: Roth et al. (2004) and Walsh et al. (2016) also studied VDR polymorphisms in relation to sarcopenia. In one of the studies, they found a twofold higher risk of sarcopenia in men VDR FokI FF homozygotes than in f allele carriers (Roth et al., 2004). In their replication study, the odds of sarcopenia in FF women were moderately higher compared to f allele carriers, but no significant differences in sarcopenia risk were observed in men (Walsh et al., 2016).
