Previous studies have already positively associated the polymorphisms in the genes ACTN3 (Cho et al., 2017), VDR (Roth et al., 2004; Walsh et al., 2016), and CVI (Lin et al., 2014) with sarcopenia, and it is likely that further common polymorphisms will be associated with sarcopenia in the future, opening up the possibility of developing a polygenic risk score approach to predict sarcopenia risk. Here, ACTN3 is linked to sarcopenia.
