Vegetarians with a TT genotype of the rs174547 in FADS1 gene had higher odds of developing metabolic syndrome (MetS), larger waist circumference (WC), higher blood pressure (BP), and lower level of HDL-c, which suggested that the dietary intake of LA might interact with rs174547 in the FADS1 gene and affect HDL-c levels [56]. Here, FADS1 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
