PDGFRA and wet macular degeneration: Given that targeting PDGF has recently been tested as novel therapeutic strategy to treat detrimental neovascularization [8], we continued to analyze whether Müller cell-specific deletion of PDGFRα affected the vascular response to noxious stimuli such as laser lesions of the outer retina, underlying RPE and Bruch’s membrane and mimicking aspects of wet age-related macular degeneration [33].
