Previous work so far demonstrated the increased expression of CXCL11 in muscles of patients suffering from dermatomyositis and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) (Fall et al. 2005; Raju et al. 2005; De Paepe et al. 2012) as well as the disease-related increase in muscular CXCR3 expression, which depending on the pathological condition either occurs in muscle fibres and/or inflammatory cells within muscles (De Paepe et al. 2005; Feferman et al. 2005; Raju et al. 2003). The gene discussed is CXCR3; the disease is Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
