Mansour and colleagues dissected the molecular mechanisms by which a short 12‐bp insertion approximately 8 kbp upstream of the TAL1 oncogene introduces novel binding sites for the transcription factor MYB, and establish a new super‐enhancer in a subset of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cases (Mansour et al, 2014). The gene discussed is TAL1; the disease is acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
