The common cancer-glycan alterations, classified as tumor-associated carbohydrates antigens (TACAs), include truncated O-glycans (Tn-antigen, sialyl-Tn antigen, and Thomsen-Friedenreich antigen (TF), branched N-glycans (β1,6-branching N-acetylglucosamine), aberrant fucosylated and sialylated glycans (known as tumor sialoglycans) [23,24] (Figure 1A).
