The administration of 200 mg/kg/day of α-mangostin showed cardioprotective effects in isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction by preventing the decrease in the activities of endogenous antioxidants (superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione S-transferase and glutathione) and reduced activities of serum marker enzymes such as lactate dehydrogenase, creatine phosphokinase, aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase [44]. This evidence concerns the gene HPGDS and myocardial infarction.
