On the other hand, results from multiple studies advocate for 2HG-MRS assuming an increasingly central role in the next decade not only for the IDH-status assessment at the time of diagnosis (which is fundamental according to the current clinical workup of gliomas), but also for treatment response assessment, specifically for directly evaluating the effects of the IDH-targeted therapy, which represents an encouraging therapeutical option. This evidence concerns the gene IDH1 and central nervous system cancer.
