Other studies support the involvement of the EMT process in chemotherapy resistance: The acquisition of mesenchymal traits through Snail induction has been related to cisplatin resistance in osteosarcoma cells and xenografts [56], the acquisition of cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer cells has been related to EMT inducers like Twist [57] or miRNAs like mi-R10b [58], and similarly, doxorubicin resistance is acquired by breast cancer cells through Snail and Twist, that might be permissive for the upregulation of P-glycoprotein or through PARP1 upregulation [59]. This evidence concerns the gene ABCB1 and ovarian carcinoma.
