Prompted by studies showing that anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) slows the progression of vision loss in patients with various retinal diseases [6–10], Genentech Inc. (South San Francisco, USA) developed two anti-VEGF drugs: bevacizumab (Avastin®), marketed by Roche (Basel, Switzerland), and ranibizumab (Lucentis®), marketed by Novartis (Basel, Switzerland). Here, VEGFA is linked to Abnormal retinal morphology.
