In renal cell carcinoma (RCC), studies have indicated that silibinin decreased the invasion and migration of RCC 786-O cells in vitro, downregulating the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 and the urokinase plasminogen activator, and suppressing the MAPK or epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)/MMP-9 signaling pathway [110]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
